Well the rest of today was a bust.
After defeating the Frogmotron, we moved rooms in the Cenobee to be closer to the Titan’s Hall and our passage to Bozal’s den of horror. We left Hess behind to distract the guards. Scruffin led the way through the river, and was ambushed by some scavenging rock trolls; Amadi saw this through the Kinship Goggles, so we were able to quickly come to her assistance, but those big bastards hit hard. Regardless, we made quick work of them.
Upon making it to Bozal’s lair, we discovered that a wall of stone had been placed across the hallway. Amadi tore it down before too long with my pickaxe (I knew there was a reason I carried it all this time!), and we searched the area. Amadi led the way up the secret stairwell we discovered, and got a nasty shock when the door at the top was trapped with a slaying spell, though I patched him up quickly. But the door opened to a storeroom in the mezzanine of the colosseum – no closer to Raknian than before!
We continued to search Bozal’s lair, and found two sets of bloody footprints not made by us, but it turned out that our other prospect – the door past the mosaic of horror – merely led to a commode. We searched in vain for a secret door anywhere in the rooms, and even attempted to start that mysterious mechanical box (breaking its lever in the process), but found nothing. I implored the Defender to pass along some wisdom, as to whether we should destroy that abominable scroll interacting with the wurm, but learned it would only lead to woe. The wurm does seem to have shrunk a bit from yesterday – which is rather curious, and contrary to our expectations.
Discouraged, we returned to the Cenobee. We must refine our plans. We hope to capitalize on the glory afforded to those who prevail in the Champion’s games by publicly confronting Raknian after we win and either provoke an ill-advised action, or get the city watch to investigate his mansion – and the secret passage discovered by Ekaym. There is, of course, the matter of defeating the Ashborn, but I am confident the Defender would not allow that reprobate Skylar to triumph a second time.
Defender be praised.
