… thus destroying the last of those curious worms that emerged from the egg. Having done enough for the misguided but respectable Hishka, I called upon the Defender to heal myself and my injured compatriots, and we excused ourselves and swam back through the underwater tunnel to the main portion of the lizardfolk’s tunnels. We took the opportunity to search the harpies’ vile aviary, and recovered some wonderful boots which help me move much more swiftly in this heavy armor. With that we began to make our way back to Blackwall Keep, to return Marzena to Delaron and inquire as to the nature of these vile worms.
I wish Hishka had been able to bring a reliable lizardman with him to confirm or deny their allegation that it was wizards from Qalachi who destroyed his egg lair, and try to understand what is going on. Defender knows…
[Meanwhile, back at Blackwall Keep…]
Shem, Otir, Crey, and Darl are 4 guards of Blackwall Keep, still dealing with the aftermath of the lizardfolk raid. Dennis, a soldier of Blackwall Keep, returns, and is ill and retires to his quarters in the basement.
A few days later, the 4 guards return from their rounds to find Kitchi, another guard, terrified on the ground floor. He claims that he heard horrific sounds from the basement, and all the lights down there went out. Otir, Shem, Crey, and Darl go down to investigate. With Otir leading the way, they discover a small, evil-looking worm in one of the bunk rooms. Continuing their search, Otir opens the door to another room and is attacked by a vile “Wormspawn”, a disgusting, zombie-like creature which seems to heal damage dealt to it and quickly kills Otir and infects both Shem and Darl with worms. Shem succumbs to his wounds in the basement, but Darl runs upstairs. Crey, who had run away in fear at the start of the fight, emerges from his hiding place to find a moaning Shem, transforming into a Wormspawn. He runs upstairs, and seeing Darl passed out with a worm hole burrowed in his arm, locks Darl in a storage closet and bars the door.
Kraldar’s Journal, Day 7
An fairly uneventful day; we continued traveling back to Blackwall Keep, and were ambushed by a couple of cockatrices. My companions make quick work of them, however. They didn’t seem that tough.

Kraldar’s Journal, Day 8
It was an extremely disturbing and trying day today, Defender keep me. We made it back to Blackwall Keep, but when we got there, we heard from the guards that his colleague had been turned into some sort of monster, and was locked in the closet. He said only horror remained in the basement. Thinking things couldn’t be that bad, we volunteered to deal with him, and check out the basement. Assisting Amadi with the strength of the bull, we threw open the door to a horrifying sight. What had previously been a man was now a grotesque husk, with worms crawling from every orifice and from wounds covering his body. This mockery of the gods’ creations attacked Amadi, and seemed to intentionally throw the worms onto him, but Scruffin and Amadi were quickly able to dispatch it. It was unnerving, but not horrific. But we had not yet been into the basement…
In the basement, we found the eviscerated body of a dwarf, which appeared to have been chewed apart, as if by a wild animal – but no animals were too be found here, only horrors. We found another of the “Wormspawn” as we have taken to calling them in one of the rooms; Amadi’s strength and skill with his ridiculous sword made quick work of it. While I held back to guard our flanks, another of these Wormspawn appeared. I called upon the Defender’s power to shoot it with an arrow of law, but it advanced and threw two of those vile worms onto me. Again Amadi was able to make quick work of it, but I was only able to brush off one of the worms, and the other found a chink in my armor and burrowed its way into my arm!
Several tense moments followed, as i attempted to remove this horrific creature from my arm and avoid the fate of those guards of Blackwall Keep. Ilyon attempted to shock the worm, but only succeeded in doing grave damage to me; Scruffin managed to slow its progress toward my heart with a spell of protection from evil; and Amadi seemed all to eager to chop off my arm to end the threat, but I was able to use a dagger to surgically remove the worm and stomp on that vile creature. I was quite shaken by this experience, and we returned to the Keep’s main hall and waited for Delaron to return.
He arrived in the evening, but was as clueless as we as to the nature of the worms. He was quite grateful that we rescued Marzena. We must figure out what is going on here, although if I had my wishes, I’d never lay eyes upon one of those worms again.
