The adventures hire four rim runner guides and make their way to Qalachi in search of answers and glory. Tybol Ro, an exotic creature covered in magical tattoos, Rontabont Mur and a few other townsfolk complete the caravan. The three day journey is quiet for the most part, filled with small talk, news and rumours. If it wasn’t for a few solitary shadow cats lurking in the night, the trip would have been without incident.
The group was awed as they drew closer to this massive city. So much to do! So much to see! So much to learn and so much to take! Amadi and Ilyon couldn’t help but let their jaws drop as they walked through the Garden District and High Quarters – so much wealth! Ilyon and Scruffin visited the College of the Desert, Kraldar prayed at the impressive Temple of the 11, and Amadi perused wears and people at the high and low markets. But the group had a mission, and was soon together again back in the Midnight Muddle’s Crooked House – an inn run by a colorfully perky halfling named Tarquin Shortstone the 24th.
Tarquin is a bundle of information, and tells the party the whereabouts of the residence of Elegos. Kraldar, spiteful and hating the joy of this place, demands we go at once to interview Eligos and deliver Marzana’s letter.
The party arrives at the Eligos’ manner, or mansion, and is welcomed inside. Scruffin is dropped by the absolute beauty of the foyer, and goes into a bit of a shock as she admires and considers the furniture and elegance of the place. Eligo’s is stern, thoughtful, and to-the point. He asks the right questions and the party has soon told him everything save our friendship with Delaron. Eligo’s thankfully shares our concern, and promises to get back to us in a week.
Given this time frame, the party decides to make the most of their visit to the Free City while they wait for Elego’s advice. Items are sold, and items are purchased. The party speaks with a Champions Game official, and learns about the rules, buy-ins, and awards. Kraldar meets with the highest of his order while Scruffin and Ilyon search the thieves district for clues that may lead them to Bozal, while Amadi does the same alone in the docs. Nobody finds anything.
After meeting up again for lunch, the party stumbles on a wonderful parade – Ilyon has never seen something so grand. There a crazy people, sounds, and animals everywhere. Ilyon watches with utter joy as a three headed beast nears, but Kraldar, always on the alert, spots a pickpocket going through Ilyon’s wears. Kraldar brings immediate attention to the thief and tells him to halt. Ilyon and Scruffin make like attempts to stop the thief, but Amadi has no intention of letting this man escape. He swings at the man with all his might and nearly kills him. Horrified, the man doubles his pace but not before Amadi tackles him. Luckily for the thief, the man has a friend who tries to stab Amadi in the back. With the look of the devil, Amadi beheads the would-be assassin on the spot, fire spurting out of his sword as the mans head bounces lifeless on the ground, eyes still open.
Meanwhile the three headed beast has been stirred up by the sudden battle, and breaks out of his small cage. His master is unable to stop the beast, and the group is forced to slaughter the monstrosity or be slaughtered themselves. After a few brushes with death, the group stands victorious. But the Free-City crowd has not dispersed, and now several guards have surrounded the area. Panicked, the group stays together as the charismatic Kraldar talks the guards out of arresting them all. Eventually, the mess is cleaned, and the party is left in temporary solitude. Ilyon suggests the party lays low at the Crooked House for the rest of their evening.
