After reviving Delaron we updated him on our well-being and Kraldar’s righteous claim to the Champions Belt, known in the slums of Koshepa as the Champions Blood-Law. In the past, it has been common practice for the Free City Champion to enter Koshepa and “clean house”, or kill as many thieves as they can. Will Kraldar do the same? We also showed Delaron a seal with 3 runes that reads ’ Pesh – Icosieol – Aaqa ’. When combined with the shattered rod, the items worked in tandem to turn Kraldar into a laser accurate compass that pointed slightly down.
After mishaps against a cursed wind duke spirit and miscues in the blood river waterfall, we found ourselves healing for the night before reentering the lower level of the Whispering Carrion. The next day Scruffin and Kraldar left Amadi, Ilyon and Delaron as they flew among the vertical caverns and nooks using the tug as their guide. They discovered a hidden stair, and Scruffin returned to magic-away the three ground-locked humanoids and the party rushed ahead.
Inside the hidden door, we found a strange, swirling body of ice cold water. After some discussion, Kraldar plunged into the strange bath and stayed under water in peace for 30 seconds. He looked stronger and healthier, more like a confident leader when he emerged. I was curios and touched the water – I almost vomited.
We carried on and came to two enormous, solid steel, frozen doors that stood repulsively in our way. I and others in the party coward in its presence. Kraldar however, stood tall, and shouted the words ’Pesh! Icosiel! Aagaegaegeh! ’ and the doors swung open filling the room with light, relaxing the grip of fear they had on the rest of us. As our eyes adjust, we look past Kraldars silhouette and into the room he had just opened, and found new reason to fear. Behind Kraldar, we see ominous swirling clouds, crackling electricity in the place of walls, and a swirling fog that seems to lightly glow in place of a floor. And out of the fog, four stone pillars march haphazardly as far as the eye can see into the glowing darkness of this whispering carrion.
